Agile HR in Today’s Workplace

In this fast-paced age of digital transformation and a tight labor market, the Human Resources sector is constantly looking for innovative options to attract and keep top talent. One prominent trend across all business sectors, including HR, is the agile approach.1

Introduced back in 2001 by a group of software developers wanting to get their products to market faster, the term “agile” has come to be adopted across business sectors that have realized that it’s time to minimize some of the documentation heavy processes and strict protocols of the past for a leaner, more collaborative work flow. 2

Following are some elements of Agile HR as it applies in today’s Human Resources sector.

• Customer Satisfaction. It’s all about being on-time, if not early, with the fulfillment of qualified HR deliverables.

• Adaptability. Be open to seeking out qualified candidates who don’t just offer specific job title experience but cross-functional skills as well. If the parameters of the deliverable change, be willing to adapt and accommodate as needed.  

• Timely Delivery. Make sure your customers receive frequent and consistent delivery of qualified candidates, HR services, tools, and programs.

• Collaboration. Establish ongoing dialogue and transparency between all concerned parties.

• Empowerment. Motivate and incentivize your HR teams to do the very best work they can – less management, more coaching.

• Work Environment. Create a work environment that encourages and enables open exchange and face-to-face interaction between team members.

• Quality. Continuously work at improving and innovating the design of your brand, products and services to attract the best people possible.

• Simplicity. Work smarter, not harder.

• Ownership. Trust that pride of ownership will lead your HR teams to create the best structures and systems needed to meet their targets.

• Stop and Review. Occasionally take a moment, and a breath, to convene and review what is working and what isn’t. Adjust accordingly.3,4
