While 59% of respondents in a 2016 survey by PwC thought mobile would be helpful for ongoing performance feedback, only 18% of companies actually used smartphones in their performance management process.¹  But that’s changing quickly. True, a website can usually be seen on a smartphone, but it is much more likely to be used if it’s mobile-ready. With self-service apps, HR professionals and employees can more efficiently engage in an agile work environment.

Hiring top talent today means responding to this generation’s expectations for tech proficiency. They don’t understand the need for learning cumbersome desktop software when a mobile app could let them manage HR tasks on-the- fly. The lack of HR tech can reflect poorly on a company’s culture. ² 

For the HR professional, streamlining processes onto mobile means that they gain the flexibility of working away from their desktop. KPI measurements and actionable insights can be collected and assessed quickly. The daily routine of data collection and processing are streamlined. In short, mobile allows HR professionals to transition from time-consuming administrative busy work to strategic management.³

For employees who don’t have access to a computer at work, time-sensitive HR issues can be handled on mobile as it is convenient for them. Life event changes can be updated, time-off requests can be made, paystubs can be checked, and hours can be reviewed. Corporate communications such as weather alerts and policy updates can be received in a timely fashion. Mobile can even provide 24/7 access to required training.

How companies use mobile for HR. 70% of the respondents in the 2016 PwC survey indicated they currently use mobile for HR processes of one kind or another – An increase of 30% from 2014.⁴
