5 Fresh Recruiting Videos

In reviewing current recruitment videos, it becomes obvious that companies are now expanding beyond simple, talking heads in front of a white screen to creating films that are uniquely representative of who they are. A well-done recruitment video is usually a few minutes long and quickly creates a sense of company culture and brand for job seekers. It’s no wonder that employers are putting more effort into career videos when you consider that job postings with videos are viewed 12% more than those without them, and postings with videos have a 34% greater rate of apply.1 Following are a few fresh ideas in the recruitment video landscape.

1. Shopify is a Canadian e-commerce site that develops “plug-and-play” software for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems. This is a young company that encourages flexibility and creativity. Like many companies, they have a wide range of recruitment videos on YouTube ranging from straightforward overviews and job-specific titles to the slightly irreverent and humorous. Here is a video on “Hack Days,” an interesting benefit for Shopify employees.

2. Dropbox is a file hosting service headquartered in San Francisco, California. This company has truly gone the extra mile to be engaging. Using muppet-style puppets patterned after various company employees, they give a light-hearted look inside their company. A few pleasant perks at Dropbox are the tea and scones cart, gym, and music room for impromptu jam sessions!

3. With a large accounting firm like KPMG you would probably be expecting a lot of serious suits in a very corporate setting. Well, there are suits, but this corporate video starts out with a little fun before branching out into the real benefits and perks of working for a large, global firm.

4. BambooHR is a cloud-based HR software service that chooses to celebrate a healthy work-life balance after the “9 to 5″ in their recruitment video. It’s an artful combination of live-action, stop-motion, and photography.

5. Here’s proof that size isn’t a barrier to creating a terrific recruitment video. Even small-town Hillsboro Police Department in Oregon gets into the act, with a well-produced, fun video introducing prospects to their precinct and the job.
